This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, John Murrill of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, Planter, being sick and weak of body, but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God, therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following; that is to say, principally and first of all I recommend my soul to God who give it hoping to have free and full pardon of my sins, through the merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour and to inherit eternal life and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors hereafter named, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again through the mighty power of God, and as to what worldly estate it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of the same in manner and form following; IMPRIMUS: First my will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto Timothy Murrill the land and plantation I now live on, to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto John Murrill, the son of William Murrill, my land and plantation known by the name of Pocerson land containing two hundred acres to him, his heirs forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto Elijah Murrill, the son of William Murrill my land and plantation known by the name of Johnston plantation containing seventy-five acres, more or less. ITEM: My will and desire is further that John Murrill and Elijah Murrill should have one hundred acres of land lying over the rode divided between them. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto Timothy Murrill my desert land containing sixty acres, be the same more or less, to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give unto Elizabeth Ballard my Negro girl called Sarah, in due her legacies from her father's estate. ITEM: My will and desire is that my Negro Peter should be hired out until Elijah Murrell comes of age and all of the profits arising there from to be equally divided between Timothy Murrill, Henry Murrill, John Murrill, and Elijah Murrill, and after the said Elijah Murrill comes of age, the said Negro Peter to be sold and the money to be equally divided between Timothy and Henry Murrill and John and Elijah Murrill, to them and their heirs forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto the heirs of Sarah Johnston and the heirs of Susannah Orrel one-shilling sterling to them, their heirs forever. My will further is that all my estate of every kind whatsoever that is not otherwise disposed of in this will, be equally divided between Elizabeth Brack (Brock?), Patty Murrill, William Murrill, Kezia Lester, and the heirs of Camp Murrill and the heirs of Mildred Fenney and the heirs of Ann Dunn, to them and their heirs forever. And I do herby nominate and appoint William Murrill, John Murrill Jr., and Timothy Murrill my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament, utterly revoking, disannulling all forms, wills, testaments, executions, heretofore by me made, qualified, confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th of April one thousand eight hundred. John Dunn Dennis Ellis Susannah Murrill Onslow, July Term 1800, the within will of John Murrill was proved by the oath of John Dunn, a subscribing witness, and William Murrill, one of the executors therein named, qualified thereto.
