This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina State of North Carolina: New Hanover County: I, Benjamin Oliver of the County of Onslow and State aforesaid, being of perfect mind and memory, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in the manner and form following; I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth three Negroes, namely Toney, Sary, his wife and Pheabe, during her natural life and further it is my will and desire that all my property indiscriminately, both real as well as my perishable property, remain in the possession and under the management of my wife during her widowhood, except my plantation whereon she now lives, as it is my desire and request that she own and possess the said plantation during her life, after her death I give and bequeath unto my son Lewis Oliver all my lands to take in possession after the term of ten years, from the date hereof, a certain tract of land containing 369 acres which I purchased from Benj. N. Yates & adjoining my plantation and further it is my desire that my children, as they arrive of full age or marry, that they have their equal share of all my estate, though I have said it should remain in possession of my wife during her widowhood; except the legacy of the aforesaid three Negroes which I give her forever, and further it is my will that my wife shall pay all my just debts, out of the income of my estate as soon as possible. I therefore appoint my well beloved wife executrix, William Cox and Franey Oliver executors, to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof my hand and seal at Wilmington the 11th February 1802. Signed sealed and acknowledged to be the last will and testament of Benjamin Oliver in presents of us subscribing witness.
