ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - Thomas Pitt, 8 Jul 1820 ----¤¤¤---- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen; I Thomas Pitt of the county of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God calling to mind the mortality of man that is appointed for all men to die, do this eight of July one thousand eight hunred and twenty make and publish this my last will and testament in manner as follows First of all my will and desire is that all my just debts be paid if any. Second, I give to my beloved wife Rebecca Pitt two Negro men David and Dublin also one Negro girl by the name of Nancy my horse and ten haead of sheep and ten cows and calves all my hogs two feather beds and furniture to her heirs and assigns forever. I lend my Negro girl Betse to my wife during her natural life and after her death to my daughter Mary Rhodes to her heirs and assigns forever. Also one Negro girl by the name of Mary I lend to my beloved wife during her natural life, and after her death to Thomas P. Rhodes son of William, to him his heirs and assigns forever. Also I lend my plantation to my belovedwife with all my plantation tools of every kind, to her during her natural life with all my household and kitchen furniture, Also I give her all my corn and meat and all the hord money I hold in possession, I give to my brother Jesse Pitt five hundred dollars and to sister Mary Pitt, two hundred dollars if she is alive and if dead all to my brother Jesse Pitts, my will and desire is after my wife deceased my plantation whereon I now live go to my daughter Mary Rhodes to her and her heirs and assigns forever. Also I give to daughter Mary Rhodes after my wife deceased my riding chair and harness, and bow fatt, I leave my land lying on the Bgeaver Damm to be sold after my wife deceased towards raising the money for my brother and sister, I give to Elijah Screws one feather bed and furniture, at my wife deceased or when she shall think propert to give it, I give to my wife my riding chaird and harness and gray mare to her her natural life and at her deceased to my daughter Mary Rhodes her heirs and assigns forever, and the remainding part of my stock I lend to my wife during her natural life, and at her decease they and all the remiang of my property that is not given in my will at my wife deceased be sold and the money to be equally divided between my nephews and nieces that is to say George Brinson, Sarah Gornto and Sarah Melton. Last of all I hereby ordain my worthy friend John Gornto and William Rhodes Executor to this my last will and testament in witness hereof I the said Thomas Pitts have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this day and year above written, signed sealed and delivered by the said Thomas pitts the testator as his last will and testament in presence of us.
