ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - John Petteway, 2 Jun 1818 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen, this 2nd of June 1818, I John Petteway of Onslow County being very sick but of sound mind and memory & calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing it is appointed for all men once to die to make this my last will and testament, in the following manner. First I desire that all my just debts and funeral expense be paid, then it is my desire that my beloved wife Sally should have one hundred and fifty acres of my land lyhing next to the mill of Stephen Shaw including my plantation & edwelling & other houses, one feather bed and furniture (her choice) my household and kitchen furniture and plantation tools of every description to her her heirs and assigns forever. I then it is my desire that Rosanna Ambrose should have the other fifty acres of my land at her coming to the age of twenty one years oor marriage to her her heirs and assigns forever. It is my desire that my mother have the sum of ten shillings to her her heirs and assigns forever. I also desire that my brother Paton Petteway to have the sum of ten shillings to him his heirs and assigns forever, also my brother Micijah Petteway to have the sum of ten shillings to him his heirs and assigns forever, also my sister Sukey Turner should have the sum of ten shillings to her, her heirs and assigns forever. Also my brother Robin Petteway should have the sum of ten shillings to him his heirs and assigns forever. Then it is my desire that my horses cattle hogs sheep geese and bees together with all the balance of my property except one feather bed bedstead and furniture be divided between my beloved wife Sally and Roxanna Ambrose, my wife to have two thirds and Roxanna one to them and their heirs and assigns forever. Then it is my desire that Roxanna Ambrose have the feather bed, bedstead and furniture as before accepted, to her her heirs and assigns forever.
