ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - Harriot M. Rowe, 10 Apr 1813 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I Harriot M. Rowe of the county of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being low in health but of sound and disposing mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainity of life have thaught proper to make this my last will and testament in manner and form following VIZ: IMPRIMIS: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary C. Snead the following Negroes, VIZ: Darby, Phebe, Silvy, Fanny, Killis, Tony, Virgil, Lewis, Alice, Alfred, Mirinda, Hester & Sarah, I also give to my said daughter three notes on James Carney of New Bern amounting in all to five hundred dollars, all my glass ware, one set of China ware and one dozen silver tea spoons. The above legacy is give to my said daughter on condition that she shall never either by herself her heirs or assigns make any demand on the estate of my husband Gains Rowe or my own estate for any sum or sums of money as heir at law of her father Robert W. Snead, otherwise the above gift to be nul and void and if she should make any such demand I then give the said property to my son James G. Rowe. Should my said daughter die before she arrives to the age of eighteen or marries, I give the said property to my son James, and in case of his death or in his non age or not having lawful issue I then give said property to my brother B. C. Gillespie and sister Catherin Anthony to be equally divided between them or their heirs. ITEM: I authorize my executor hereafter named to pay to my mother Lydia Gillispie during her life the sum of sixty dollars per year out of the interest of the money arising from the sales of property hereafter give to my son James. ITEM: Negro man Jack and Negro woman Lucy together with all the residue of my property of every discription whatever but in the event of the death of my said son I then give said property to my daughter Mary that is in case of his dying in his non age or not having lawful issue and shuld my said daughter die before she arrives to the age of eighteen or marries, I then give said property to my brother B. C. Gillispie and my sister Catherine Anthony to be equally divided between them or their heirs. ITEM: I authorize my executor hereafter named to sell the Negro woman Silvy to purchase with the money a Negro boy for the use of my daughter Mary. ITEM: I hereby nominate and appoint my brother B. C. Gillespie executor to this my last will and testament and I also appoint my said brother Guardian to my daughter Mary C. Snead.
