This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Aaron Segla of Onslow County and State of North Carolina, being sick and low in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, thanks be unto Almighty God for the same, and calling to mind the mortality of man and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, doth make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following: First and principally I recommend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave it me hoping through the merits of a dear Redeemer to inherit everlasting happiness and my body to be decently buried by the hands of my executor hereafter named. SECONDLY: My will and desire is that all my just debts and funeral charges be punctually paid. THIRDLY: I give and bequeath unto my friend Jeremiah Spicer, two Negroes, namely one fellow by the name of James and one wench by the name of Sarah, to him and his heirs forever. FOURTHLY: My will and desire is that the land and plantation whereon I now live and all the rest of my property, both real and personal, be sold and the monies arising from said sale be equally divided in three parts after all my debts and other legacies is paid out. One third to George Curtice, one third between Kincey Redd and Segla Redd and the (last) third to the children of my cousin Mary Segla, now the wife of Hobday. FIFTHLY: I give and bequeath unto all of the rest of my heirs, that of any blood kin or heir of any nature or kind, to each one shilling sterling or the value thereof in state's currency. SIXTHLY and lastly, I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my two friends George Curtice and William Redd my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament, revoking, disannulling and setting void all other will or wills by me heretofore made, but ratifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament in as full a manner as the law can devise as witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 7th day of July one thousand eight hundred and two.
