ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - John Shepard, 14 Jun 1806 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina State of North Carolina: Onslow County: In the name of God, Amen, I John Shepard being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God, for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die, do make this my last will and testament that is to say first of all I recommend my sould to God that gave it and as touching my worldly estate, I give and dispose of in the following manner and form. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son John one Negro boy named Ned which he hath now in his possession and one other Negro boy named Samson. ITEM: I give unto my son in law John Hicks one shilling sterling. ITEM: I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Green one Negro boy named Will which she hath in possession. ITEM: I give unto my son in law Charles Burton one shilling sterling. ITEM: I give unto my daughter Abigale Gornto one shilling sterling. ITEM: I give unto my son Jacob one shilling sterling. ITEM: I give unto my daughter Martha Barfield one Negro girl named Rose which she hath in possession. ITEM: I give unto my daughter Rachel James one Negro boy named Charles which she hath in possession. ITEM: I give unto my daughter Susannah Wood one Negro boy named Dick now in her possession. ITEM: I give unto my daughter Esther one Negro girl named Rhoda now in her possession. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Elijah my land and plantation whereon I now life with all the land adjoining thereto my two negros namely Lucy and Esther with all their increase that is not before mentioned in my will. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Elijah all the reaminder part of my property of what nature or kind soever not before mentioned to him forever. I likewise do hereby order that my son Elijah do support my wife in a decent and good like manner both in food and raniment at the directions of my son John during her natural life. Lastly I nominate my sons John and Elijah Shepard my executors to this my last will and testament in testimony whereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal, the 14th day of June 1806.
