ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - George Shackelford, 3 Dec 1800 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: This third day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred, I George Shackelford in the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being weak in body but being in perfect mind and memory thank God for it calling to mind the mortality of my mind knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and fear of all I recommend my soul into the hands of God that give it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the descretion of my executor nothing doubting but the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mity power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I lend to my beloved wife Mary Shackelford during her natural life three Negroes by the name Jo, Jack and Petty also the house planation where I now live, plantation tools as many as is necessary one mare and horse five cows & calves three sows & pigs one bed and furniture to have and to hold during her life after her life for the above mentioned property to be equally divided between the two boys, Jackey Shackelford & Daniel Shackelford. I give unto my beloved son Jackey Shackelford two Negroes Jo and Bob, one hrorse Bridle and saddle, three cows and calves two sows and pigs one bed and furniture one half of my lands with the house when given up by my wife. I give unto my son Daniel Shackelford three Negroes Jack & Peter, Petty and half of all my land with the plantation on setping branch also a piece of land in dispute lying on Buck Branch and meadow Branch three cows & calves one horse two sows and pigs one bed and furniture Jack and Betty to have at my wife descretion. I give unto my beloved daughter Nancy Shackelford three Negroes Donas, Nelsce and Simon, one horse bridle and saddle one bed & furniture. I give unto my daughter Sooky Shackelford four Negroes, Anthony, Grace, March, and Hagar, one mare or horse bridle and saddle one bed and furnitrure. I give unto my son Jackey Shackelford one more Negro by the name of Gin. I give unto my friend James C. Bryan Fifty pounds one bed and furniture after all my just debts is paid. I leave all my lands lying on Back Swamp to be sold and all the property that is unwilled to be sold to pay all my just debts if anything remaining over paying my debts to be equally divided amongst all my children. I leave my loving friend James C. Bryan and my son Jackey Shackelford Executors to all my state to act as I have willed.
