This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I Alice Starkey of Onslow County, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, (blessed by God), do this 29th day of September in the year of our Lord 1808, make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say; First, I lend unto my daughter Pheobe Mitchell during her natural life all my Negroes that she has now in her possession namely, Tour, Doso, Beso, Lucy, Cleopatra, Tomson, John, Toney, and Boston, and after her death to go to her heirs lawfully begotten of her body forever. Secondly, I lend unto my daughters Sarah Jones and Phebe Mitchell the residue of my Negroes to wit, Will, Judith, Luch, Sutton, Venus, Rose, Dauglap, James, Liler, and Chester, to be equally divided between them and they to have the use of said Negroes during their natural lives and after their deceased to go to the heirs lawfully begotten of their bodies forever. 3rdly: My will is that the residue of my estate consisting of stock, household & kitchen furniture & plantation utensils, together with the crop that may be on hand at the time of my decease, be equally divided between my daughters Sarah Jones, Phebe Mitchell & my grandchildren Alice McCrohaw, Dugomein Taylor, Julia Ann Taylor and William Taylor, that is one third to Sarah Jones one third to Phebe Mitchell & the remaining third to my grandchildren aforesaid and my desire is that my executors pay to my grandchildren above named whatever may be coming to them from the above demise as soon as they shall come of age. And I hereby make and ordain my sons in law William Jones & George W. Mitchell executors of this my last will and testament.
