ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - Peter Starkey, 19 Oct 1780 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God Amen: I Peter Starkey of White Oak River in Onslow County being very sick & weak in body but of sound mind & perfect memory do make this my last will and testament in manner & form following: FIRST: Chief of all I recommend my soul to the mercy of almighty God hoping for the salvation thereof through the merits alone of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ & body I desire to be decently buried at the descretion of my executor hereafter named; & as for such worldly goods as it has pleased God to bless me with I dispose of them as follows: ITEM: I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Katharin for her comfort support & the following negores (to-wit) Nan & her children, Old Moo, Squire Pompe, Isaac, Umus, old Ceaser & Guam, I also give her ten wosw (torn out), I also order sufficient provisions for one year to be laid in for her by my executors. ITEM: My will & desire is that all the remainder & residue of my estate of what kind & in what plan so ever do equally divided between my two sons William & Edwrad when William shall come to the age of twenty years & that each of my sons enjoy their respective part or share in fee simple without any incumberance whatever my eldest son William to have his just choice. I also order that my son be kept in school or put to live with some reputable merchant till they arrive at the age of twenty years so that they may be brought in in a mammer suitable to their fortune & in such a way as probally they may be most useful members of the community. Lastly & to conclude I constitute & appoint my brother Edward Starkey executor to this my last will & testament revoking all other wills by me at any time heretofore made & I declare this only to be my last will in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 19th day of October 1780.
