ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - Richard Steavens, 22 Feb 1784 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I Richard Steavens of Onslow County, State of North Carolina, being at this present time week and for a low state of health but blessed be God of a perfect sound mind and memoris and calling to mind the uncertainty of this present life knowing that it is appointed for all men to die, I make and ordain this my last will and testament and first of all, I give my same to God from which it came and my body to the dust to be intard in a Christian like manner to the discretion of my executor whom I have appointed to pay my well beloved sons Asa Steavens and Zadock Mumfort whom I leave the management of what worldly goods God has been pleased to bless me with which I give and bequeath as follows, after all my just debts are paid. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Ester one third of all my lands and all my moveable effects during. I give and bequeath to my beloved son Asa one third of all my lands after his Mother's death, the one half of all the land I have given then to be taken of the homestead together with the plantation tools , one chest and case of bottles. ITEM: I give and bequath to my beloved son Richard one third of my land after his Mother's death whom God posses then and half of all the land I have given them together with my deske. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my beloved daters Elizabeth, Sarah, and Suzanah after the death of their mother all the moveable effects to be divided equally between them except what I have given to my sons Asa and Richard, Aas witness my hand and seal this 22nd day of February one thousand and seven hundred and eight four.
