ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - Ruth Strange, 7 Apr 1798 ----¤¤¤---- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Ruth Strange being weak in body but of sound mind & memory blessed be God for the same do make this my last will & testament in manner and form following (VIZ.): ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my son Seth Strangve one hundred acres of land that Elmore Anderson bought of John Johnston lying on Persimmons Branch & also one bay mare called Nance which I give to him his heirs & assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son John Strange one hundred acres of land also one colt called Nick which I give to him his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Strange the whole of the plantation whereon I now live which I give to him his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Synthae Strange fifty acres of land lying on both osides of the road where John Berrman now lives which I give to her, her heirs & assigns forever. ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Ellis fifty acres of land adjoining the land I gave to Synthae Strange which I give to her, her heirs & assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elz. Berryman one shilling to be paid by my executor in a reasonable term after my deceased. My will and desire is that the four hundred acres of land on Mill Creek & Bear Creek also my whole stock of cattle & hogs be sold at six months credit & for my just debts to be paid out of the money's arising from the sale & the residue to be equally divided among my children; John, Edward & Synthae Strange, & Hannah Ellis, and also for my plantation tools to be divided between John Strange & Edwrad Strange & my household furniture to be divided between my two daughters Synthae Strange & Hannah Ellis and all the rest of my land that I have not given away, if there should be any, my will & desire is that they be equally divided between John Strange, Edwrad Strange, Synthae Strange, Hannah Ellis & the three heirs of James Strange (Jr.) (viz.): Salley, Seth & James Strange (Jr) I do hereby ordain and appoint John Strange & Lewis Ellis my executors of this my last will and testament hereby utterely revoking all other wills or testaments by me made declaring and pronouncing this my last will & testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 7th day of April 1798.
