Onslow County, North Carolina

In the name of God, Amen, I Hugh Thompson of the State of North Carolina and 
Onslow County, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God do 
this 31st day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred 
and twenty five make and publish this my last will and testament in manner 
following that is to say:

1: That all my just debts be paid and all my funeral expenses be justly paid 
by my executor.
2: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret Thompson 2 chests, one bed 
and its necessary furniture, one bedstead, mat and cord, one pot, four barrels 
of corn, three hundred wt. of pork, ten pounds of lard, one wheel, and cards 
and seventy five dollars in cash to be raised out of my land.
3: I give and bequeath to my brother William Thompson fifty cents and no more.
4: I give and bequeath to my sister Rebecca Williams and her husband James 
Williams fifty cents and no more.
5: I then leave my land and all the rest of my on mentioned property to be 
sold by my executor and after paying all just debts and what I have given 
away, then the balance to be equally divided between my mother Ann Ballard and 
my brother Lott Ballard.
6: And I hereby make and ordain my brother Lott Ballard executor of this my 
last will and testament, in witness whereof I the said Hugh Thompson do to 
this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above 
written.
