ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - Richard Ward, 17 Feb 1825 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina State of North Carolina: I Richard Ward of the County of Onslowand State aforesaid being indisposed in body of a mind recollecting that I must some time or other leave this world by death but of the certainty of the time I am not able to tell I therefore make and ordain this my will in manner following that is to say I wish my just debts and expenses to be paid out of such property even if it is the old Negroes as my executors shall think can be spared best for the prupose. ITEM: I give to my daughter Polly children ten dollars of my estate and no more as I give to her her full share of what I then possess. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Fields the sum of ten dollars out of my estate and no more as she has had her part before. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my son George Ward all the lands I bought of th court hosue lands. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my daughter Fereby Ward my home plantation and the lands belonging to said plantation. ITEM: I leave the rest of my property both real and personal to be equally divided between my said son George Ward and my dauggter Fereby Ward and if either of the aforesaid children Georrge or Fereby shoud die before arriving to age or without lawful issue for the share or legacy that I have bequeathed it he or she to go to the survingng one. Lastly I do appoint Banister Lester as the executor to full fill the contents of this will whom I also appoint as guardian to my aforesaid two children, George and Fereby, in witness whereof I hae hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 17th da of February 1825. I further requewst my executor to support Mrs. Rachel Johnston during her life in decency out of my estate. R. Ward Signed in the presence of J. I. Doty Susan R. Doty ONSLOW COUNTY: In court May term 1825, the will of Richard Ward being produced before the court and Jaco I Doty one of the subscribing witness thereto being duly sworn deposeth and sayeth that he saw Richard Ward sign the said witin will and acknowledged it to be his will and that Susan R. Doty another of the subscribers there signed said will in his presence and in the presence of each other they both signed said will. TEST: Banister Lester, C.C. ONSLOW COUNTY: In court May term 1825, I do hrereby certify that Banister Lester duly qualified as an executor to this will of Richard Ward and letters was ordered to be granted.
