I, Edward Young of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect Mind and Memory blessed be God for it, do this 26th day of November 1796 make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say. First, I give unto my beloved wife Exelina Young two negroes named Drusilla and Isaac and all the cattle that her father gave her, one horse called Liberty, saddle and bridle, her bed and furniture, also all the chairs and the large table, all my crockry ware and pewter, my knives and forks, also twelve of my best fat hogs, also my yoke of oxen and one large trunk, one pot, one dutch oven, also all my geese, two fluke plows and one bar ditto, four sows and pigs, eight head of sheep, all my books and forty barrels of corn, one ax, two weeding hoes, one half dozen teaspoons to her & her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto my three children, Mary Young, Nancy Young and Edward Young the following negroes, that is to say. Handy, Mary, Daniel, Lewis, Chelsea, Rachel, Milly and Peggy. The said negroes to be equally divided between my above mentioned children, when they arrive at the age of eighteen or marry, to them their heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give to my daughter, Mary, one bed and furniture, one set of silver table spoons to her heirs & assigns forever. Item. I give unto my daughter, Nancy, one bed and furniture, one silver soup spoon to her and her heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give unto my son Edward Young all the land that I am possessed of. Also one horse, bridle and saddle, one bed and furniture to him & his heirs and assigns forever. Item. I give unto the child that my wife is now pregnant with. Two negroes named Dick and Molly, one bed and furniture, to it and its heirs and assigns forever. My will is that my two negroes Andrew and Charlot to be sold at public or private sale at the discretion of my executors. My will is that all my above mentioned negroes shall be hired at the discretion of my executors and the money arising with all my notes and accounts and articles sold to be put to the use of schooling and raising all my above mentioned children after paying my just debts then if there should be any money arising after the above mentioned support for it to be equally divided between all my children. When my daughter Nancy arrives to the age of eighteen or marries to them and their heirs forever. My will is that if either of my children should die before they come to the above mentioned age that at their legacy or legacies shared be equally divided between them that are living to them and their heirs forever. Lastly and I hereby make and ordain my worthy friends Jes Williams and Wood H Rhodes Executors of this my last will and Testament revoking all others by me heretofore made & acknowledging this only to be my last in witness whereof I the said Edward Young have set my hand and fixed my seal the day and year above written.
