The latest date in the manuscript is 15 Dec 1893, the date of birth of my mother, Willie Austin, second child of William Hartwell Austin and Lula McCorkle. Their third child was born 12 Nov 1895, and this indicates that this manuscript was written in 1894 or 1895. Amelia Devina Moyer married Tillman Austin in Cabarrus County, North Carolina 1 Dec 1842. My Great Grandfather on Father's side came from Germany. I do not know his name [Adam Meyer/Moyer]. John Mathias Moyer, my grandfather on Father's side lived near the Big [Dutch] Buffalo Creek in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, near St. John's [Lutheran] Church. He was buried there. I do not know when nor where he was born. He married Mary Boon, a relative of Daniel Boon, the Great Pioneer. Daniel Boon lived on the Yadkin River. John Boon, grandmother's brother on Father's side, lived in Greensboro, North Carolina on the Yadkin River. Grandfather and Grandmother had two children -viz- Catharine and John George. I do not know their ages. Catharine Moyer, sixteen years the elder, was married to John Barringer and lived on the Big [Dutch] Buffalo Creek and was buried at St. John's Lutheran Church. They had five children, John Mathias, Nathaniel, Alexander, Edmund and Martin. John Mathias Barringer, their first son, married Crisie Pitts and lives near Hillsborough, Illinois. Their first child's name was Julius and their second child Elizabeth. Nathaniel Barringer, second child married Susie Faggot and lived on the Big [Dutch] Buffalo Creek. They had five children, John, Richard, George, Sophie and Edny. Alexander Barringer, third son, married Crisie Harris, a niece of old Uncle Charlie Fisher in Salisbury, and moved to Mississippi. Edmund Barringer, fourth son, married Sallie Hearn in Albermarle and lived on the Yadkin River. Martin Barringer, fifth son married Sallie Moose and lived on the Big [Dutch] Buffalo Creek. John George Moyer (My Father). I do not know the date of his birth. He was born near St. John's [Lutheran] Church in Cabarrus County - lived on the Big [Dutch] Buffalo Creek until about 1846 - died in his seventies in the last year of the war and was buried in Rowan County at the Lower Stone Presbyterian [Lutheran] Church. He married three times. His first wife was Elizabeth Sossoman, his second wife Martha (Patsy) Cooper, widow of a Minister Cooper from Clemensville, Davey Co., North Carolina, his third Amelia Peacock, a widow he married in Rowan Co., N. C. He married his first wife, Elizabeth about 1809. She bore eleven children, viz, Elizabeth, Eveline, John Lewis, Daniel Monroe, John Mathias, Mary Ann, Amelia Devina, Henry Nathaniel, Charles Augustus, Caleb Alexander and Elizabeth Catharine. Elizabeth Moyer died an infant. Eveline Moyer was born May 26th 1813 - died about 1874 - married to David Lentz, by whom she had seven children, viz Crawford, Christina Ann, John C. Calhoun, Caleb, Mary, Laura and David Augustus. Crawford Lentz lived in Albermarl, Stanley Co., N. C. Christina Ann Lentz lives near Statesville, Iredale Co., N. C. John C. Calhoun Lentz Caleb Lentz lives at Franklin, North Carolina. Mary Lentz - died Laura Lentz - died David Augustus Lentz lives in Statesville, Iredale Co. N. C. John Lewis Moyer, was born in 1815 lived in Missouri - married Lydia Shandy, and died in the war. They had nine children, viz, Clementine, Charles Wellington, Alexander Crook, Lawson, Nancy, Mary, George, John and Ruth. Clementine Moyer was married to Martin Nichols - started to Missouri - took sick on the way and died at Springfield, Illinois and was buried there. Charles Wellington Moyer, second child Alexander Crook Moyer, third child Lawson Moyer, fourth child Nancy Moyer, fifth child Mary Moyer, sixth child George Moyer, seventh child John Moyer, eighth child Ruth Moyer, ninth child Daniel Monroe Moyer, 4th child, was born in Cabarrus Co. about 1817 - he married Elizabeth Mahalie Austin, (a sister to my husband), in Stanly Co. He died in the war in Virginia and was buried there. His wife was born about 1823 and died in Charlotte. North Carolina - they had five children Camila Moyer, 1st child, was born 1843 in Stanly Co. She married in Charlotte and died there - Do not know her husband's name. Camaline Moyer, 2nd child, was born in Stanly Co. 1846 - lived in Charlotte -married to Mr. Crowell. She is now dead. Horatio Milton Moyer, third child, was born at Gold Hill [Stanly Co.] about1850. Died in Charlotte Henrietta Moyer, fourth child, was born at Albermarl, Stanly Co. - married atCharlotte and is now living at Atlanta, Georgia. Do not know her husband's name. Elizabeth Moyer, 5th child married in Charlotte and is now living atGreensboro, North Carolina. Do not know her husband's name. John Mathias Moyer, fifth child, [of John George Moyer and Elizabeth Sossoman]was born about 1820 near Big [Dutch] Buffalo Creek, Cabarrus Co., North Carolina was named after his grandfather married Martha Kimbrel, daughter of Joseph (Joel) Kimbrel - died in Illinois. His wife bore four children, viz, Martin Luther and a twin brother, Mary and Stephen. Martin Luther married and lives in Butler, Illinois - his twin brother died an infant. Mary and Martin Luther, I think, were born in Iredale County where your grandfather Kimbrell lived between Salisbury and Statesville. Stephen the younger than Mary was born at Gold Hill [Stanly Co.] - when several months old he took sick and died and was buried there. Then your father returned to his farm near David Lentz's in Rowan Co. where he remained till he moved west. Mary Ann Moyer was born 1822 - married to Simeon Lentz in Cabarrus Co. - lived in Rowan moved to Arkansas and died there about 1860. Franklin, her first child, was born about 1848 - a daughter died an infant - was buried at Gold Hill. Charlie died in Arkansas. Your Great Grandmother Darcus Kimbrell married and her husband lived and died over about the Yadkin River - she then married Henry Cress, lived where I was raised - she had two sons Harris and William, both single. Amelia Devina Moyer was born Sept. 25th 1824 - married to Tillman Austin at the Old Homestead, Big [Dutch] Buffalo Creek, Cabarrus Co., North Carolina Dec 1st 1842 and lives in Vaiden, Carroll Co., Miss. Tillman Austin was born Feby. 13th, 1821 died in Vaiden, Carroll Co., Mississippi , November 5th 1890. Sarah Ann Josephine Austin, their first child was born in Stanley Co., North Carolina, Nov. 22nd 1843 - married to James Gains Hilliard at Black Hawk, Carroll Co., Miss. July 14 1869 - died in Vaiden, Carroll Co., Miss. January 19th 1884. James Gains Hilliard died April 19th 1877. Their oldest son, James Tillman [Hilliard] was born in Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York and died July 28 1870 and was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in said City. George Milton [Hilliard] was born Sept 28th 1892 at Black Hawk, Miss. He now lives at Durant, Holmes Co. Miss. - a single man. Mary Elizabeth [Hilliard] their third child was born August 19th 1875 in the Yazoo Valley, Holmes Co., Mississippi - married to Walter Odom Dec 4 1892 and lives at Durant, Holmes Co., Miss. Julia Elizabeth Austin [second child of Tillman Austin and Amelia Devina Moyer] was born September 12 1845 in Stanley Co., North Carolin married to Robert Henry Brownne in Enterprise, Clark Co., Miss. May 8th 1867 and now lives at Morris Park, Queens Co., New York, Robert Henry Brownne was born at Robert Henry Brownne, their first child named after his father was born April 5th 1868 and died in Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York July 1888 a single man, - was buried in Greenwood Cemetery Charles Frederick Brownne, their second child, was born November 15th 1870 in Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York - He is a single man and lives with his parents. Mary Amelia Brownne, their third child was born Augt 1874 at Brooklyn, New York and died Dec 1893 and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. James Tillman (Brownne) their fourth child was born 1880 at Brooklyn, New York, was buried aged six months in Greenwood Cemetery. Henry Nathaniel Austin [third child of Tillman Austin and Amelia Devina Moyer]was born in Stanly Co., North Carolina April 11th 1848 married Annie Powe February 20 1867 at Paulding, Jasper Co., Mississippi and now lives at Vaiden, Carroll Co., Mississippi William Hartwell Austin, their first child was born in Enterprise, Miss.October 21st 1867 - married Lula McCorkle Sept 23rd 1891 and lives at Bessemer, Jefferson Co., Alabama Anna Lloyd [Austin] their first child was born June 18th 1892 at Bessemer,Alabama Willie [Austin] their second child was born Dec 15th 1893 at Bessemer,Jefferson Co., Alabama Minnie Austin [second child of Henry Nathaniel Austin and Annie Powe] was born May 7th 187[?] - was married to W. D. Carr Oct 9th 1893 and lives at Greenwood, Leflor[e] Co., Miss. Catharine Austin third child [of Henry Nathaniel Austin and Annie Powe] wasborn May 7th 1872 in Newton Co., Miss. - married to Harris Wilson January 3rd 1894 at Vaiden, Miss. George Bains Austin fourth child [of Henry Nathaniel Austin and Annie Powe] was born June 29th 1887 Cornelius Alexander Austin [fourth child of Tillman Austin and Amelia Devina Moyer] was born at Gold Hill, Rowan Co., North Carolina, May 6th 1850. He is a single man and lives at Vaiden, Miss. Laura Jane Austin [fifth child of Tillman Austin and Amelia Devina Moyer] was born January 29th 1852 was married to Charles Hobbs in Carroll Co., Miss.
