The SARGENT/SERJENT Family of Orange/Person County N.C.

William SARGENT received two land grants from John CARTERET, the Earl of
Granville in Orange Co. NC on April 1754. He married Sarah, maiden name
unknown, but believed to be of the LEA family of Caswell County that had
settled there from King and Queen Co. Virginia.

William SERJANT
 wife: Sarah
 sons: Stephen, Thomas, Joseph, and James.
 Daughter: Elizabeth
 Son-in-law Joseph GOLD
Exe: sons: Stephen Bryant and Joseph GOLD
Wit: John LEA and Sarah SERJENT
It is believed but not proven that William also had a son William SARGENT
Jr, but he is not named in the will. Perhaps there was also a daughter 
Mary that died before William Sr and had married Joseph GOLD before her 
sister Elizabeth? 
Most of this SARGENT family migrated to Russell Co. VA ca 1796, later on
to Pulaski Co. KY...others on to other states.

Thomas SARGENT  married unknown
Joseph SARGENT married Ruth RANSOM. Joseph left 1784 will.
Daniel SARGENT married 3 January 1780 to Delphy CARNEY
Elizabeth SARGENT Joseph GOLD and possible (2) married Simon DOYLE 26 Aug
1791? Or is this a grandaughter Elizabeth?
James SARGENT married (1) Mary LEA (2) Jane NEELY? widow of Phillip LOVE.
