Orange County NC - MISC - James TURNER and David CRAIG Families File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Ms. Louise Overton ------------------------------------------------------------------ Tidbits of Old Orange County History ....James TURNER and David CRAIG It has been passed down that James Turner came from County Down in Ireland, settled briefly in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, thence to the area called Hawfields in Orange County. James Turner purchased 200 acres from the agents of the Earl of Granville. James Turner married Mary Patton in 1735 Their known proven children: there were more but I have no proof of them. James Turner married Rebecca Clendenin Nellie Turner married James Craig of the New Hope area of Orange County, son of pioneer William Craig. David Craig was a member of the North Carolina Continental line of the Revolution. He died in 1785 and is buried in the New Hope Cemetery.
