She is not very well for a few days back but I believe its origination was from cold. I hope that when you receive these few lines they may find you and all the family and all our connection enjoying good health. As to the news of the county it is chiefly about South Carolina. The Nullyfiers I thot that we were without any in our State but we are not, one of our members was on that Side, it appears that between 20 & 30 were of the Claf I this day got the President's mefsage which I think highly of I mean his second Bearing Date the 16th of January. I need not write anything about it you will have it in print before this Reaches you. As to crops we have made enough to do altho the last Day of July it did not appear that Old ground could bring 1 bushel to the acre but rain came on that night & it rained on untill we had Tolerable crops of Corn. Corn can be bought at $1,50 per BBL wheat .75 per bushel Flour at Newbern is $6.00 per BBL. Tobacco at Petersburgh from $3 to 7 per hendred pork her $4.00 p Do. In the next place the winter has been very favorable so far. With few exceptions it is warm & dry. As to the Times they are hard. Our Legislature has past an act for a new State bank but whether it will go into operation or not is yet unknown. It was to be 2 million, 1 to the State the other to the Stock Holders. The money all to be paid into the bank before any was issued out & not to issue more than two for one. The Books are soon to be opened & then we will Soon know -- they are alfo winding up their Banks which makes times so much harder. I don't know how we that are in Debt can get through but there is some way I suppose. The people do not Distref one -- Some years ago we wait for but I don't know that I ever Shal See them altho perhaps I may. I have seen a great many ups & Downs in the course of my Pilgrimage. Next I shall Tell you is they have got a Rail Road from Petersburgh to Hixie Ford on the Mehevian 45 miles Completed. The waggon or waggons can carry 500 Bales of Cotton at a load.
