MAIN STREET CARRBORO, ORANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Many African American people contribute to building Carrboro's Community. There people were free men and slaves, craftsmen, farmers, cooks, nurse maids, mothers, and fathers. Some were here by choice and some were here because of slavery. Those who were enslaved contributed much to this community and are acknowledged by having their final resting place marked with a monument on the day of June 1995. Henry, Jordan, Alvis, Alfred Easter, Dennis, Dilly, Fred, Charles, Lucy, Jordan, Chancy, Jordan, Samuel, George, Shane, Shan, Joe, Candice, Sarah, Julia, Ann, and Dennis. The descendants of these slaves have prospered in this land. After slavery they assumed the name of Weaver and went on the make this community their own. They became and are community leaders, school teachers, college professors, public administrators and good citizens. But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31) Behind this monument were 22 graves with untitled markers. The following tombstones were enclosed in a fence. Elizabeth J. wife of W. C.
