All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Nancy Poquette npoq@hotmail.com May 23, 2006, 3:11 am Source: Guardianship Bonds, Orange County, Nc, For Thomas, William and Abner Clark, Dated February 29, 1790, Nc Archives, Microfilm Cr.073.510.9 Written: February 27, 1790 “Know all men by these presents: “That the James Carson, William Shepperd and John Taylor, Esqrs. are held and firmly bound unto the justices of Orange County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions in the sum of five hundred pounds to which payment well and truly to be made, to bind ourselves, our heirs and executors, and etc, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our hands and dated this 27th February 1790.” “The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas above bound James Carson is appointed guardian to THOMAS CLARK. Now if the said James Carson doth truly discharge his said guardianship agreeable to law, then the above obligation to be void, etc, to remain in full force and virtue. Signed, James Carson, William Shepperd, John Taylor.” The same guardianship bonds are also made out for the brothers William and Abner, indicating that they were all three minor children. No such bonds were made out for the female children, who are believed to have reached marriageable age by this time. This also indicates that their mother had died.
