He apparently settled about 1.5 miles southwest of Chapel Hill on land patented to Henry BEASLEY in 1763. In 1787, John GEE and wife, Constant (nee ODIEN?), sold 200 acres of land on Obed Creek, a branch of Morgan's Creek. Soon thereafter, the family removed to what was then Lincoln Co., KY (Casey County was cut from Lincoln in 1807). Thomas ODIEN may appear in the records of Orange County as early as 1759 (Thos ODEN?). In 1778, he entered 200 acres of land on the south side of Morgan's Creek adjoining land of Hardy MORGAN, John SPARROW, William PENDERGRASS, Thomas CONNOLY and his own land. This tract was located less than one-half mile from John GEE's homestead. Thomas ODIEN and wife, Susannah (nee EDWARDS?) moved to Chatham Co., NC, sometime prior to 1795.
