Hillsborough, Apl. 8th, 1782. Joseph Hastings, of Orange, is hereby permitted to remain with his family until called on by me or the Commander in Chief for the time being, he holding himself in readiness to obey Such call at a Moment’s Warning, after which he is to perform Such Services as shall be assigned to him to the best of his abilities, by which he shall be entitled to a Pardon for all Treasons and misprisons of Treasons, and meantime this shall be his protection.
