All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jacqueline Wilkerson jgwilkerson@embarqmail.com September 12, 2009, 7:12 pm Written: January 3, 1818 Recorded: May 1820 Orange County, North Carolina Deed Book 4, Page 179, 180 William Cain Senior to Samuel Bumpass Junior This Indenture made & entered into the third day of January one thousand Eight hundred & Eighteen Between William Cain Senr. of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina of the one part & Samuel Bumpass Junr. of the same County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Cain Senior for and in consideration of the sum Three hundred & thirteen dol =lars & Eighty seven & a half cents to him in hand paid at or before the signing, sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained & sold & by these presents doth bargain & sell unto the said Samuel Bump =ass Junr. his heirs & assigns forever A Certain Tract or parcel of land Situate lying & being in the County & State aforesaid on the waters of Little River being part of a Tract of land granted to Moses Leathers by William Sheppard butted & bounded as follows viz Beginning at a Stake in George Horners line about two yards from a Post Oak a Corner of George Horner Junr runing thence South thirty five chains to a black Oak thence West Twenty Eight chains to a Gum on Smiths line thence North Nineteen chains to a Hickory & then North 55 East Twenty Eight chains to a stake thence East three chains to the first Station containing Sixty Nine & three fourth acres be the same more or less To have & to hold the aforesaid Tract of land with all & singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him the said Samuel Bumpass Junr. his heirs, Executors Administrators & assigns and he the said William Cain Senr. doth Covenant promise & agree for himself his heirs executors & administrators to & with the said Samuel Bumpass Junr. his heirs & assigns that he the said William Cain Senr. his heirs Executors & administrators shall & will Warrant & forever defend the premises aforesaid with the appurtenances unto him the said Samuel Bumpass Junr. his heirs & assigns against the lawful claim or claims of all & every person or persons whatsoever In testimony whereof he the said William Cain Senr have hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above written - William Cain (seal) Signed Sealed & delvd Orange County May Term 1820 In presence of ) The Execution of the within deed was James Latta ) duly proved in open Court by the oath of John T Clement ) John T Clement a Subscribing Witness thereto & ordered to be Registered Test J Taylor C.C File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/orange/deeds/cainsr523gdd.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 3.2 Kb
