ORANGE COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - John Armstrong to Joseph Hodge and Richard Christmas, 18 Apr 1790 Orange County North Carolina Deed Book 4 p.692 State of North Carolina, Orange County. This indenture made the eighteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety. Between John Armstrong of the county of Orange and state of North Carolina of the one part and Joseph Hodge and Richard Christmas of the state and county of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Armstrong for and in consideration of one hundred pounds current money paid to him in hand by the said Joseph Hodge and Richard Christmas at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presence the receipt whereof the said John Armstrong doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presence doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Joseph Hodge and Richard Christmas his heirs and assigns all that tract of land situate, lying and being in the county of Orange on Haw Creek. Beginning at the fork of Rocky Branch thence north thirty degrees east seven chains to a Post Oak thence south sixty-seven degrees east ten chains to a stake then south thirty-eight degrees nine chains to a Hickory thence south fifty-five degrees east nine chains to a branch of Haw Creek thence down the meanders of the creek to the mouth of Rocky Branch then up the branch to the beginning containing in the whole one hundred and thirty-five acres more or less being a tract of land granted to the said John Armstrong by the state the reference being there unto had will more fully appear and the reversions, remainder and remainders, rents and services thereof and also all the estate right title property claim and demands whatsoever as well in equity as in law of him the said John Armstrong and his heirs of and into the said tract of land and premises and of unto every parcel of land above mentioned and all singular other the premises thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said Joseph Hodge and Richard Christmas their heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoove of them the said Joseph Hodge and Richard Christmas their heirs and assigns forever and the said John Armstrong for himself and his heirs to the said Joseph Hodge and Richard Christmas their heirs, executors and administrators and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said John Armstrong hath hereunto set his hand and seal this day and date first above written.
