ORANGE COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Nathaniel Christmas to Thomas Durham 21 Nov 1797 Orange County North Carolina Deed Book 6 page 462 Nathaniel Christmas to Thomas Durham This indenture made this 21st day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety-seven. Between Nathaniel Christmas and Mary Christmas his wife of the county of Orange and state of North Carolina of the one part and Thomas Durham of the county and state afore mentioned of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Nathaniel Christmas and Mary Christmas his wife for and in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds lawful money of North Carolina to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Durham the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge before the ensiling and delivering of these presents hath granted, bargained and sold unto the said Thomas Durham a tract of land lying in the county of Orange on the waters of Little Cain Creek adjoining the land Do said Durham and Charles Christmas. Beginning on a Post Oak stump and Black Jack on Charles Christmas' line running thence south twenty-seven degrees east nineteen and a half chains to a Post Oak on said Durham's line thence with his line west twenty-six and a half chains to a Spanish Oak Durham's corner thence south along said Durham's line standing on the north bank of a branch River thence up the meanders of said branch north thirty-five degrees west thirty-two chains to a stake a corner of Charles Christmas' thence with said Christmas' to the beginning. Containing forty-seven acres be the same more or less it being part of a tract of land purchased of William F. Strudwick by said Nathaniel Christmas together with all appurtenances in anywise belonging to the above mentioned premises and the said Nathaniel Christmas and Mary Christmas his wife for themselves and there heirs to the said Thomas Durham will warrant and forever defend against themselves or their heirs or against claim or claims of any other person lawfully pretending to claim said tract or parcel of land. In witness whereof they have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and date above written.
