Geer to Geer

This Indenture made the 12th day of August in the year of Christ Seventeen 
hundred & Sixty nine by & between John Geer & his son Frederick both of Orange 
County & Province of North Carolina This Indenture Witnesseth that I John Geer 
out of the natural love & affection that I bear towards my son Frederick Geer 
Give unto him a certain Negro Girl named Jean & four head of Cattle & one dark 
bay mare branded thus 7 on the near Sholder to him his heirs & assigns forever 
To have & to hold the said Negro, Cattle & Mare from any person or persons 
whatsoever laying claim or Title thereunto whereunto I interchangibly (?) Set 
my hand & Seal in the day & date above written
Signed Sealed & delivered in the Presence of §

          The execution of the within Deed was proved before me this 2nd day 
of October 1769 by the oath of Michael Dent, Let it be recorded.
