Glenn administrator of Duke Glenn, deceased to sell the land hereinafter mentioned of which the said Duke Glenn was seized and possessed at the time of his death for the payment of the debts of said (line missing) Instate and the proper costs and charges incurred in the administration of the estate and whereas the undersigned did in pupurvance of said order offer the said tract of land for sale after due advertisement in the presence on the 16th day of January 1847 when James Leathers became the purchaser he being the last and highest bidder at the price of $178 which said sale was afterwards confirmed by the said County Court at the next term thereof and the undersigned was to make a deed to the purchaser accordingly Therefore this Indenture made this 27th day of February AD 1850 between the said Duncan C. Glenn, admn. Of the first part and the said James Leather of the other part bot of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that in consideration of the promised and of the said sum of one hundred and Seventy Eight Dollars by said Leathers to the said D. C. Glenn paid according to the terms of the said sale he the said Duncan C. Glenn admn. Of Duke Glenn hath sold & by these presents he doth hereby bargain and sell alien release and convey unto the said James Leathers his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Orange County on the Waters of Eno River adjoining the lands of Fielding Leathers, Polly Woods, James Leathers & others and containing one hundred and fifteen acres be the same more or less subject always however the dower of Aly Glenn, the widow of said Duke Glenn deceased therein. To have and to hold the said Tract of Land with all its improvements and appertenances unto him the said James Leathers, his heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof the undersigned Duncan C. Glenn, admn, of Duke Glenn decd. hath hereunto set his hand & Seal the day and years first above written Duncan (X) C. Glenn Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Hedgepath Wilson W. Davis Orange County Court February Term 1850. The execution of the foregoing deed was duly proved in open Court by the oath of A. N. Hedgpath a subscribing Witness thereto & ordered to be Registered.
