Johnston of Orange to Joseph Kirkland of same, ten pounds, 141 acres, on
waters of New Hope, begin at a red oak, N 106 p. to a black oak, w 165
p. to a red oak, N 186 p. to a red oak, e 77 p. to a white oak on
Charles Johnston's line, s 30 p. to a black jack, E 88 p. to beginning,
by deed from the State to Charles Johnston this being almost one half;
signed Charles Johnston; witness:  George Johnston, James Young; proved
February Term by George Johnston.

Orange County (NC) Deed Book 2 P. 199, 4 March 1785, Daniel Hogan of
Orange to Joseph Kirkland of same, five pounds, 12 acres, on head waters
of Old Field Cr., begin at a sweet gum tree on the branch on sd.  Daniel
Hogan's old line, down branch to a white oak on the old line between
Danile Hogan & John Strain, E on ad. line to a red oak Daniel Hogan's
old cor., S Daniel Hogan's old line to first station; signed: Daniel
Hogan; witness John Hogan; acknowledged February Term 1786.

Orange County (NC) Deed Book 3 P. 452, 4 December 1770, John Strowd
Senr. of Orange, planter, to Thomas Kirkland of same, planter, fifty
pounds, 140 acres, on both sides of New Hoope Cr., begin at the mouth of
Great Br. where it empties into New Hope on N side, up branch which is
sthe dividing line between this & that part of the tract granted to
Joshua Stroud (now the property of Mr. James Thacksont) to the N line of
the original tract, W to a hicory the old cor., S 280 p. crossing creek
to a white oak saplin, E 80 p. to a spanish oak, N 118 p. to a spanish
oak by the creek, down creek to first station, part of a tract from
Granville to John Stroud 25 July 1760; signed: John (X) Stroud; witness:
Ralph McNair, John King; acknowledged July term 1771.

branch to beginning, granted White 25 October 1782; signed Joseph (+)

May Term 1783 by May.

the branch being a fork of Mountain Cr., up branch to beginning, part of
