All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Watson beverly_wat@msn.com May 30, 2010, 7:12 am Written: August 28, 1767 Recorded: January 1769 Orange County, North Carolina Deed Book 2, pg 517 Larance to Clap This Indenture made the twenty eight day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Sixty Seven Between John Larance of the County of Orange & Bettey his wife farmer of the one part & Philip Clap of the county aforesd Witnesseth the said John Larance & bettey his wife for an in consideration of the sum of Seventy five Pounds in hand paid by the said Philip Clap at & before the ensealing & delivering hereof the receipt whereof John Larance & Bettey his wife doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained & sold aliened enfeofed & confirmed & by these presents, doth grant bargain & sell alien enfeof release & confirm unto the said Philip Clap his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land & plantation Situate lying & being on the Great Allamance the waters of Haw River in the Said County of Orange containing by estimation four hundred & twelve acres of land & bounded as follows beginning at a Red Oak about a mile above his brother Peters line running thence North 75 Chs to a Black Jack Oak Saplin then 55 chs to a White Oak saplin thence South 75 chs to a White Oak Saplin then West 55 chains to the first Station it being a tract of Land granted to the said John Larance by deed from the right Hon Earl Granville bearing date the Second day of Feby in the year of our Grace 1761 & also the reversions & reversions (sic) remainder & remainders rents & services thereof together with all the edifice buildings gardens with all the improvements also all the right interest claim & demand whatsoever of them the said Jno Larance & Betty his wife of in & to the said tract of Land & plantation & premises above mentioned & to every part & parcel thereof To Have & to Hold the Said Plantation with the appurtenances unto the Said Philip his heirs & assigns forever to the only proper use & behoof of the Said Philip Clap his heirs & assigns forever the said John Larance & Betey his wife for themselves their heirs executors & assigns do covenant promise & grant to & with the said Philip Clap his heirs & assigns forever by these presents that they the said John Larance & Bette his wife the said tract of Land & the appurtenances & every part & parcel thereof against them the said John Larance & Betty his wife & their heirs & assigns & against all & every other person Lawfully claiming or to Claim by from or under them as any of them to the said Philip Clap his heirs & assigns Shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said John Larance & Betey his wife have hereunto Set their hands & seals the day & year first above written Signed Sealed & delivered in § John (his X mark) Larance (Seal) the presence of § Betey (her X mark) Larance (Seal) John McGee Wm Stringfellow Orange County Jany § This is to certify that the within deed was duly proved Court 1769 § by the oath of Jno McGee a subscribing evidence thereto - Test F Nash CC Additional Comments: Deed from John Larance and Betty, his wife to Philip Clap File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/orange/deeds/larance501dd.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ncfiles/ File size: 3.7 Kb
