This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Jacqueline Tilley Wilkerson jwilkerson@visionet.org ==================================================================== George Laws to William Hampton Laws June 2, 1785 Orange County Deed Book 2, Page 429 This Indenture made the second day of June in the year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred & Eighty three Between George Laws Snr of the one part & William Hampton Laws son of the aforesaid George Laws both of the County of Orange & state of North Carolina Witnesseth that the said George Laws Sen for divous good causes & considerations him thereunto moving, but more especialy for and in consideration of the natural love & affection that he hath & doth bear towards his son William Hampton Laws hath given & by these presents doth freely give grant bargain make over convey & confirm unto the Said William Hampton one certain tract or parcel of land & plantation Situate lying & being in the County of Orange and state aforesaid it being the land & plantation whereon the said William Hampton Laws now liveth containing by estimation one hundred and Seventy acres be the same more or less being part of a tract of Land which the said George Laws purchased from Henry McCullock Esquire & is bounded as follows to wit beginning at a Hickory on the East bank of Flat River running thence No 45 East 49 chains to three Red Oaks Saplins thence ? 34 West 10 chains to a Red Oak thence West 10 chains 75 links to a Black Jack thence No. 33 West 35 chains to the Mainwood at a Black Jack thence a Westwardly course along the said Woods and goes to Flat River thence down the Said River and meanders to the first Station, To have & to hold the said One hundred acres of land with all of & singular the improvements & appurtenances therewith belonging with the reversion & remainders to the only proper use & behoof of him the said William Hamton Laws heirs forever free & clear of & from the right title property claim & demand of him the said George Laws Sen & his heirs part in Witness whereof the said George Laws hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above Written Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of us George Laws, Sn (seal) Peyton Madison George Laws No Carolina ) August Court 1783 Orange County ) The execution of the foregoing deed was duly proved in open court by the oath of George Laws a subscribing Witness thereto and ordered to be registered Test Jesse Benton C.C.
