This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Jacqueline Tilley Wilkerson jwilkerson@visionet.org ==================================================================== Levi McCollum to John Laws November 15, 1850 Orange County Deed Book 34, Page 108 This Indenture made this the 15th day of November AD 1850 between Levi McCollum of the first part and John Laws of the second part both of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina Witnesseth that the said Levi McCollum for and in consideration of the love and affection which he hath & bears to his Daughter Mary Laws the wife of the said John Laws and in further consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said John Laws hath bargained and sold and by these present he doth bargain and sell alien release and convey unto the said John Laws his heirs and assigns forever a certain lot of land containing half an acres be the same more or less with the Buildings thereon and appurtenances lying in the Town of Hillsborough & known in the plan of said Town as parts of Lo-- ? Bounded on the North by Margaret Lane on the East by the lot of Sally Thompson on the South by Josiah Turner and on the West by the Public Spring Lot but in Trust and confidence for the following purposes and for no other that is to say for the sole and separate use and benefit of the said Mary Laws free from all liability for the debts or contracts of her said husband To have and to hold the said lots of land with its improvements and appurtenances unto the said John Laws his heirs and assigns for the purposes & trust aforesaid forever In Witness whereof the said Levi McCollum hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day above mentioned Test William W Guess Levi McCollum (seal) State of North Carolina Personally appeared before me J L Bailey on the of Judges of the Superior Courts of Law & Equity for the State aforesaid the before named Levi McCollum who acknowledged the execution of the foregoing instrument of writing as his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned Let it be Registered this 15th day of November 1850 J L.
