Isaac Laws to Samuel Bumpass

This Indenture made this 28th day of February in the year of our Lord
one thousand Eight Hundred & forty six Between Isaac Laws of the County
Of Orange and state of North Carolina of the one part and Samuel
Bumpass of the County and State aforesaid of the other part
    Witnesseth that the said Isaac Laws for and in consideration of the
sum of four Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Samuel
Bumpass at the time executing these presents the receipt whereof the said Isaac Laws doth hereby acknowledge have given, granted, Bargained & sold and by these do give, grant, bargain & sell unto the said Samuel Bumpass a certain tract or parcel of Land situtate lying and being in the county and State aforesaid on the waters of little river adjoining lands of Wm Cain Samuel Bumpass, John Neeley and others Bounded as follows Beginning at a Post oak stump John Neeley corner running thence south 8 degrees west 19 1/2 chains to a stake formerly a birch, Thence North 80 degrees west 34 1/2 chains to a stone pile, thence south 16 1/4 degrees East with Bumpass line 5 chains 20 links to pointers his corner thence his line south 70 degrees East 23 1/2 chains to a Black oak, Thence South 17 degrees west 30 chains to a post oak Thence South 70 degrees west 7 chains & twenty Links to a pine Thence North 20 degrees west 32 chains & 60 links to pointers Thence North 60 degrees East 10 chains & 90 Links to pointers Thence North 70 degrees west 5 1/2 chains to pointers thence North 33 1/4 degrees west 13 1/2 chains to pointers Thence South 63 degrees west 5 1/2 chains to pointers on J B Leathers Line Thence with his line North 37 degrees East 19 1/2 chains to a stake his corner Thence North 2 chains & 80 Links to a Black gum Thence South 80 degrees East 37 chains & 75 links to the Beginning containing one Hundred & forty six acres more or less To have and to hold the above described tract of land & premises together with all and singular the rights profits privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Samuel Bumpass his heirs and assigns forever & to his and their own proper use & behoof forever and the said Isaac Laws for himself and his heirs have covenanted and agreed and by these presents do convenant and agree to and with the said Samuel Bumpass his heirs & assigns that he has full power and lawful authority to Convey to convey the said land in fee simple and that the right & title of the same unto the said Samuel Bumpass his heirs or assigns he will warrant and forever defend by these presents against the claim of all persons whatsoever In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above
