Horman & Dicey Laws to Josiah Turner Orange County Deed Book 28, Page 142 & 143 This Indenture made the ninth day September in the year of our Lord 1838 Between Horman Laws & Dicey Laws his wife of the County of Orange & State North Carolina of the one part & Josiah Turner of the town of Hillsborough & State & County aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Horman Laws & Dicey Laws his wife for & in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars to them in hand paid by the said Josiah Turner at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge them the said Horman Laws & Dicey Laws the wife of the said Horman Laws hath given granted bargained & Sold aliened released ? confirmed & by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien release ? & confirm unto the said Josiah Turner his heirs & assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate lying & being in county of Orange & State aforesaid & on the waters of the north fork of Little river ? ? then of the tract of land that the late Stephen Smith dcd seized & possessed supposed to contain sixty-five acres more or less & adjoining the lands of William H Halls heirs & Jacob Waggoner & others together with all woods & underwoods Timber Timber trees ways waters water courses profits commodities Hereditaments & appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have & to hold the said tract of land or parcel of land & all & singular the premises hereby granted with their appurtenancy unto the said Josiah Turner to the only proper use & behoof of him the said Josiah Turner his heirs & assigns for ever Furthermore the said Horman Laws & Dicey his wife for themselves & their heirs executors & administrators doth hereby covenant & ? the above ? premises to him said Josiah Turner his heirs & assigns against the lawful claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever to warrant secure & defend by these presents in witness whereof the said Horman Laws & Dicy Laws his wife hath hereunto set their hand & affixed their seals the day & year first above written signed sealed & delivered in presence of us Test his Jos: ?
