James Leathers etal to Samuel Bumpass

This Indenture made this 10th day of September in the Year of our
Lord one thousand Eight hundred & thirty Between James Leathers and
John Ray of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina of the one part
and Samuel Bumpass of the County & State aforesaid of the other part
Witnesseth That whereas on the 22d day of January AD. 1828 James
R Carrington Executed to the said Leathers & Ray a Deed in Trust to
secure Moses Leathers for being his Security, on a Certain Tract of land
containing one hundred & fourteen acres, commonly known as [Laws’s]
Cross Roads, reference being had to said Deed which is Registered in the
Registers Office of the County of Orange in Book U page 98 will
more fully & at large appear, and Whereas the said Deed of Trust
has been fully satisfied & discharged and the said James R Carrington
has also sold & conveyed to the said Samuel Bumpass the above
described Tract of land & executed a Deed for the same which is dated
on the 10th September 1830. Now be it known that We the said
James Leathers & John Ray for & in consideration of the promises and
for the further consideration of Fifty Cents in hand paid by the said
Samuel Bumpass the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have
Bargained, sold, released, & conveyed all the right Title or interest which
we have by virtue of the said Deed of Trust unto the said Samuel
Bumpass his heirs and assigns forever In Testimony whereof We have
hereunto set our hands & Seals the day & date first above written

          This day came Fielding Leathers the subscribing witness before
me William Norwood one of the Judges of the Superior Courts of Law & Equity of this
State & he being duly sworn proved the Execution of this Deed
