Moses Leathers to Samuel Bumpass Jr

This Indenture made [?] this 23d day of March one thousand
eight hundred & thirty one Between Moses Leathers of the one part
and Samuel Bumpass Junr of the other part both of the County of
Orange & State of North Carolina Witnesseth that the said Moses
Leathers for & in Consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred & f[?]
Dollars to him in hand paid at or before the sealing & delivery of
these presents by the said Samuel Bumpass Junr. the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath bargained & sold unto the said Samuel
Bumpass Junr. his heirs & assigns his heirs & assigns forever a Certain Tract or
parcel of land Situate lying & being in the County & State aforesaid on the
Waters of Little River & Mountain Creek being part of a Tract of land granted
to Moses Leathers by William Shepperd Butted & bounded as follows viz
Beginning at a Stake Bumpass’s Corner about two yards from a post oak
running thence South thirty five chains to a black oak Edward D[?]
line & Bumpass’s Corner, thence East Seventeen & seven tenths chains to a Stake
thence North thirty five chains to a White Oak, thence West Twenty [?]
tenths chains to the first Station Containing Sixty nine & three fourths
acres be the same more or less. To Have & To Hold the aforesaid Tract of
land with all & Singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to him
the said Samuel Bumpass Junr. his heirs Executors, Administrators &
assigns and he the said Moses Leathers doth Covenant promise & agree
for himself his heirs Executors & Administrators to & with the said Samuel
Bumpass Junr. his heirs etc that the said Moses Leathers his heirs Executors
& administrators shall & will Warrant & forever defend the premises
aforesaid with the appurtenances thereunto to him the said Samuel Bumpass
Junr. his heirs & assigns against the lawful claim of all & every person or
persons whatsoever In Testimony whereof the said Moses Leathers have
hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above Written
