ORANGE COUNTY, NC - DEEDS - Indenture between Hardy Lewter and Thomas Lewter ----¤¤¤¤---- This Indenture made this 17th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three Between Hardy Lewter of Chatham County and state of No. Carolina of the one part and Thomas Lewter of Orange County and state aforesaid of the one part witnessed that the said Hardy Lewter doth for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy pounds Bargain, sell and confirm unto the said Thomas Lewter a certain tract or parcel of land situate, lying, and being in the county of Chatham and on the waters of New Hope Beginning at a black gum and hickory in sd. Hardy Lewters line running west one hundred thirty two poles to a pinethence North 140 poles to a white oak (at) David Nimberleys Corner thence East 132 poles to a pine thence South 140 poles to the first station the sd. tract containing by estimation one hundred and sixteen acres of land be the same more or less wherein the sd. Hardy Lewter doth fully and voluntarily devest myself of all rights and claims and doth for the above consideration of one hundred and seventy five pounds warrant and defend the said land and premises unto the said Thomas Lewterright from me & my heirs to him and his heirs forever in witness whereof I have hereunder set my hand and seal the day and date above written. his Signed, Sealed and Delivered in Hardy Lewter {Seal} (a cute little 'H') presence of us mark John Wesbrook (by mark) Abner Sholers Chatham County November session 1808 The Execution of this Deed was duly proved in open Court by the oath of John Wesbrook, A subscribing witness and ordered to be registered.
