Witness: Samuel (x) WHITSETT, Freeman WOOD ­ Jurat, James TATE. Received April 6, 1798, of John CAMPBELL the within feather bed & furniture, one cupbard with drawers, one pine table, six chairs, one iron pot, 1 dutch oven, skillet &c borrowed with a promise to deliver to said CAMPBELL whenever he calls for them without any hesitation or hindrance whatsoever as witness my hand the day and date above written. Delivered: John CAMPBELL. p. 253 ­ 31 July 1798: Bill of Sale ­ David LEWIS to Jacob TROXLER ­ Negro girl named Rose as security for payment of £40 owed to Jacob Troxler and promise to pay before 25 December next ­ if not paid, Negro Rose to remain with Troxler, mortgaged until paid with interest from the date hereof for £20 of said sum & Negro girl to be in his possession whose labour is to be considered as interest of the balance of the above said sum of £40, 8 shillings. By public sale to highest bidder on 12 months credit to Catlett CAMPBELL for £650 paid to the NC Governor or his successor ­ Lot #25, corner lot of Kings Street & Churton Street on north side of King St. bounded on the West by Dr. O’FERRILLs lot & on the North by Absolam TATUM.
