ORANGE CO., NC ­ DEED BOOK 7 ­ 1798-1799

p. 251 ­ 20 Jan 1798 ­ George GRAY to John CAMPBELL - £29, 20 sh ­ 1 feather
bed, bedstead & furniture, one cupbard with draws (sic), one pine table, six
chairs, one iron pot, one dutch oven, one skillet, six cups & saucers, 2
bowls, one mug, one tea pot, one ax, one matlock, one billing hoe, on half
of my crop of wheat now growing where Thomas THOMAS now lives, one year old
sow.  Witness:  Samuel (x) WHITSETT,  Freeman WOOD ­ Jurat, James TATE.
	Received April 6, 1798, of John CAMPBELL the within feather bed &
furniture, one cupbard with drawers, one pine table, six chairs, one iron
pot, 1 dutch oven, skillet &c borrowed with a promise to deliver to said
CAMPBELL whenever he calls for them without any hesitation or hindrance
whatsoever as witness my hand the day and date above written.  George GRAY.

	Orange Co. ­ August 1798 Term ­ proved by Freeman WOOD.  Delivered: John
CAMPBELL.


p. 253 ­ 31 July 1798:   Bill of Sale ­ David LEWIS to Jacob TROXLER ­ Negro
girl named Rose as security for payment of £40 owed to Jacob Troxler and
promise to pay before 25 December next ­ if not paid, Negro Rose to remain
with Troxler, mortgaged until paid with interest from the date hereof for
£20 of said sum & Negro girl to be in his possession whose labour is to be
considered as interest of the balance of the above said sum of £40, 8
shillings.   David (x) LEWIS.  Wit: Barnaby (x) TROXLER, William Ray.
Proved OC ­ Court Term Aug 1798 by Barnaby Troxler.  Delivered: Barney
TROXLER.


p. 263 ­ 2 Nov 1797:  Henry SHEPPERD, Commissioner appointed by Act of
General Assembly of NC held at Raleigh to sell & convey premises and lot in
town of Hillsborough known & distinguished by the name of the BLUE HOUSE &
Church advertised in Halifax & Fayette Gazette and at the Market House.  By
public sale to highest bidder on 12 months credit to Catlett CAMPBELL for
£650 paid to the NC Governor or his successor ­ Lot #25, corner lot of Kings
Street & Churton Street on north side of King St. bounded on the West by Dr.
O’FERRILLs lot & on the North by Absolam TATUM.  Wit: James YARBROUGH, John
McKERRALL ­ Jurat, James PALMER.  Sent Mr. CAMPBELL by John EVANS.  Proved
OC Court Term August 1798 by John McKerrall.  Delivered ­ Catlett CAMPBELL.
