John Reding            ) This Indenture made this 19th day
of August 1817 between Frederick Nash of the Town
of Hillsborough George Burgwin & Maria, his wife
& Robert Ogden & Elizabeth his wife of the first Part
& John Reding of the other part Witnesseth that we
the said Frederick Nash, George Burgwin & Maria
Burgwin, Robert Odgen & Elizabeth Ogden for and in
consideration of the Sum of One hundred & Eighty nine
Dollars to us in hand paid by the said John Reding
the Receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge have
Bargained, Sold aliened, [?] & conveyed & by these
presents do Bargain Sell alien [?] & convey unto the
said John Reding his heirs & assigns a Certain Tract
or Parcel of Land in the County of Orange Begining
at a Black Oak & runing thence South with
Gaddis’s line 56 chains to a black, thence East thirty
chains to a black oak, thence North with Angl[?]s
line 56 chains to a black oak thence West thirty
chains to the first Station. Containing by Estimation
one hundred & Eighty Eight acres & one hundred and
twelve poles be the same more or less: To have and to
hold the aforesaid Land & Premises with their appurten
=ances unto the said John Reding his heirs & assigns
forever binding ourselves truly to Warrent & defend the
said bargained premises unto the said John Reding
his heirs Executors, administrators & assigns free from the
claims of all Persons whatsoever Excepting twenty acres
in the North part of said Tract extending from side to side
which we do not warrent – In witness whereof we have
hereunto set our hands & Seals the day & Year first above

        I Thomas Ruffin One of the Judges of the
Superior Courts of Law & Courts of Equity do hereby Certify
that on the day of the date hereof personally appeared
before me at Orange County the within named Maria
Burgwin wife of the within George W B Burgwin
when & where I examined her privly & apart from her said
husband touching the Execution by her of the within Deed
of Conveyance to John Reding & the said Maria then
and there being so prively & apart from her said husband
acknowledged that she sealed & delivered the said
Deed and that she did so voluntarily & of her own accord
& without the persuation or fear of any threats by her
said husband or any compulsion whatsoever – Let the
same be Registered Given under my hand at Orange
County this 31st day of July A.D. 1818 –

The Execution of the within Deed was duly proved in
open Court by the Oath of David Woods Junr. a
Subscribing Witness thereto and by the Certificate of
Thomas Ruffin one of the Judges of the Superior Courts
of Law & Equity as appears above – Ordered that the
the within Deed & above Certificate be Registered –
