R Nichols to Jno Reding

This Indenture made this 24th day of February 1836, between Richd. Nichols
of the county of Orange and state of North Carolina of the first part and Jno.
Reding of the county & state aforesaid of the second part = Witnesseth that
the said R. Nichols for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred
and Sixty-seven & half dollars in him in hand paid by the said Jno.
Reding at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged he the said R. Nichols hath bargained granted and
sold conveyed and confirmed unto the said Jno. Reding his heirs administra
tion executors and assigns all that tract or parcel of Lands lying and being
in the county and state aforesaid on the waters of Little river containing
by estimation One hundred acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows
Beginning at a post on James McCallisters line, running east along
Jno. Armstrongs line to a black oak sappling on James Ray’s line thence
South to a white oak thence south west to a White oak, thence north at the
first station it being a part of a tract or Land granted to Al[ex] Mebane
by Deed from Gabriel Johnston Esqr. bearing date 25th day of March A.D.
1751 to have & to hold unto him the said Jno. Reding his heirs administrators
executors and assigns forever free from the claim of every person claiming
in through or under me in any way whatever, I the said R. Nichols do
warrant and forever defend, the right and title of the said Land unto the
said Jno. Reding his heirs and assigns against the claim of myself my heirs
administrators executors or assigns or any person or person claiming in through
under or by me in any way – In testimony whereof I have set my hand
and seal the day and year above written

The execution of this Deed was duly proved in open court by the oath
of Jno. Stephens a subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be registered
