Christmas gxmas@gte.net Orange County Deed Book 2 p-7 State of North Carolina, Orange County This Indenture made this seventh of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy-seven between Michael WHATLEY of the county of Orange and Province of North Carolina of the one part and John CHRISTMAS {#32} of Bute County, Province aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Michael WHATLEY for and in consideration in the sum of one thousand pounds proclamation money to him in hand paid before the ensealing and delivery of the presents to receipt whereof the said Michael WHATLEY doth hereby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained and sold, alliened, enfeoffed, released and confirmed by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell also enfeoff, release and confirm unto the said John CHRISTMAS his heirs and assigns forever all that said tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the said county of Orange where I now live. Beginning at a red oak on CATE's line then running north 80 chains to a white oak sapling, then west cross a fork Cain Creek 80 chains to a black oak sapling on POLLOCK's line thence along his line south south-west -- chains 10 links to a stake then east 20 chains CATS's corner then along his line -- Cain Creek to the first station containing estimation six hundred and fifty-six -- land and also reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders and services all the estate, right title, interest, profits, claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Michael WHATLEY for in and to the said tract or parcel of land and of in and to every part and parcel thereof. Yo have and to hold the said seat, tract or parcel of land and premises unto the said John CHRISTMAS his heirs and assigns unto the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said John CHRISTMAS his heirs and assigns forever and the said Michael WHATLEY for himself, his heirs, executors and administrators doth covenant, grant to and with said John CHRISTMAS his heirs and assigns by these presents. That the said seat, tract or parcel of land unto the said John CHRISTMAS his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend from all persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said Michael WHATLEY hath hereunto set his hand the day and year first written.
