H C Roberts etal Appr to William Proctor

William Proctors Homestead

We the undersigned having been duly summoned and sworn to act as appraisers of 
the homestead and personal property exemptions of William Proctor of Durham 
township Orange County by S. H. Breeze D Sheriff of said County do hereby make 
the following [?] We have viewed and appraised the homestead of the said 
William Proctor and the dwellings and buildings thereon owned and occupied by 
said William Proctor as a homestead to be Three Hundred & fifteen dollars and 
that the entire tract bounded by the lands of Simpson and Browning and Samuel 
Cole is therefore exempted from a sale under execution according to law. At 
the same time and place we viewed and appraised at the values annexed the 
following articles of personal property selected by said William Proctor 2 
Horses $225.00 2 cows & calves $30.00 3 yearlings $12.00 10 hogs $15.00 5 
sheep and 3 lambs $8.00 1 waggon 10.00 2 plows $5.00 1 doz chairs $4.00 3 
chests 3.00 3 tables $4.50 1 Cupboard $2.00 5 beds $45.00 Kitchen furniture 
10.00
Whole amount of the above personal property $373.50
           Present growing crop              100.00
                                            $473.50
Which we declare to be a fair valuation and the said articles are exempt under 
said execution We hereby certify we are not related by blood or marriage to 
the judgment debtor or the judgment Creditor in this execution & have no 
interest near or remote in the above exemption given under our hands and seals

The above return was made and subscribed in my presence day and date above 
given John Turner Sheriff by S.H Breeze D.S. (Seal) the within named H[lbert] 
C Roberts Willis G Guess Simpson Browning were summond and qualified according 
to law as appraisers of the homestead & personal property exemption of the 
said William Proctor under an execution in favor of John Cole
This 25th day May 1869 John Turner Sheriff by S.H. Breeze D. Shff
The foregoing homestead Was registered the 6th July 1869
