All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jacqueline Wilkerson jgwilkerson@embarqmail.com September 5, 2009, 2:08 pm Written: March 26, 1825 Recorded: May 1825 Orange County North Carolina Deed Book 21, Page 469, 470 Mary Redding to John Stephens This Indenture made this twenty sixty of March in the Year One thousand eight hundred & twenty five between Mary Redding (Widow of Thomas Redding) decd of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina of the one part & John Stephens of the County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Mary Redding for & in considera =tion of the sum of Seventy dollars to her in hand paid by the said John Stephens at & before the sealing & delivery of these presents the rect. rect. whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth grant bargain sell & convey to the said John Stephens a certain Tract or Parcel of Land lying & being in the County of Orange on the Waters of Haw Creek the same being the part which descended to the said Mary as heir at Law of her Brother Stephen Holloway decd. Beginning at a Post Oak on Gills line Corner of C. running North 11° West Seventy Seven chains & 50 links to a Stake on Wilsons line thence South 79° West four chains & Seventy five links to a Spanish Oak Corner of E. thence South 11° East 77 Chains & 50 links to a Hickory on Gills line, thence North 77° East four chains 37½ links to the beginning. Containing Thirty five acres & one fourth be the same more or less. Represented in the plot & Certificate in file by D. To have & to hold the aforesaid Tract or parcel of Land with all & Singular the heredi =taments & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertainin =g to the only proper use & behoof of the said John Stephens his heirs Executors & assigns forever: And the said Mary Redding for herself her heirs Executors & Administrators doth Covenant & agree to & with the said John Stephens his heirs Executors & assigns that the that the described Tract of Land the Will Warrent & forever defend against the right, Title, claim, or demand of all & every person or persons whatever.
