All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jacqueline Wilkerson jgwilkerson@embarqmail.com September 5, 2009, 2:11 pm Written: March 15, 1825 Recorded: May 1825 Orange County North Carolina Deed Book 21, Page 470, 471 John Redding Atty to John Stephens This Indenture made this fifteenth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & Twenty five between John Redding attorney in Fact for Susannah Hastings of the one Part & John Stephens of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Redding by virtue of a Power of Attorney from the said Susannah Hastings certified from Bedford County in the State of Tennessee – for & in consideration of the Sum of One hundred & five dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell and Convey to the said John Stephens A certain or parcel of land it being her distributive share of the Tract of land which Stephen Holloway decd. died Seized & possessed Beginning at a spanish Oak on Gills Line Corner of F running North 71° West 77 chs 50 links to a stake & pointers on Wilsons line, thence South 79° 4.75 links to a stake & pointers Corner of H. thence South 11° West 77. 85 links to a spanish oak on Gills line, thence North 77° East 4.37½ links to the begining Containing Thirty five acres & forty poles all which will more fully appear by Reference to the petition plat & Certificate & Commissioners Report which is now on Record in Orange County Court of pleas & Quarter Sessions. To have & to hold the aforesaid described Lot of Land with all & Singular the Hereditaments & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the the use & proper behoof of the said John Stephens his heirs Executors & assigns forever And the said Susannah Hastings for herself her heirs Executors & assigns by her her said Attorney John Redding doth Covenant & agree to & with the said John Stephens his heirs Executors & Assigns that the above described Tract or Parcel of land she will Warrant and forever defend against the right title interest claim or demand of all & Singular every other person or persons whatever; In witness whereof the said Susannah Hastings (by her said Attorney) hath hereunto set her hand & Seal the day & Year first above written Witness Susannah Hastings by her Atty J[o]s N.
