All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jacqueline Wilkerson jgwilkerson@embarqmail.com September 5, 2009, 2:16 pm Written: February 3, 1827 Recorded: February 1827 Orange County North Carolina Deed Book 22, Page 272, 273 John Redding Atty to John Stephens This Indenture made this the third day of February in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & Twenty Seven between John Redding attorney in Fact for John Hastings & Ann Hastings (his wife) of the one part & John Stephens of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina of the other Part Witnesseth that the said John Redding by Virtue of a Power of Attorney from the said John Hastings, Certified from Franklin County State of Tennessee for & in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred & Seven dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath given, granted, bargained, & Sold, & by these presents doth give grant, bargain, sell & convey to the said John Stephens a Certain Piece or Parcel of land It being their distributive share of the Tract of Land of which Stephen Holloway Decd Died Seized & possessed – Beginning at a Spanish oak on Gills line Corner of G. running thence North 11° West 77chs 85 links to a stake & pointers on Williams line, thence South 79° West 4chs 75 links to a stake on the Widow Mebans line thence her line & John Nelsons South 12½° East 78 chains to a Post Oak & Red Oak, thence North 77° East to the beginning Containing thirty five acres & forty poles all of which will now fully appear by reference to the Petition Plat & Certificate and Commissioners Report which is now on Record in Orange County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions To Have & To hold the aforesaid Described Lot of land with all & Singular the Hereditaments & Appurtenances, thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the use & proper behoof of the said John Stephens his heirs Executors & assigns forever And the said John & Ann Hastings for themselves their heirs Exr. & assigns by their said attorney John Redding doth covenant & agree to & with the said John Stephens his heirs Exerx. & assigns that the above described Tract or parcel of land they will Warrent & forever defend against the right Title, claim interest or demand of all & Singular every other person or persons whatever.
