Mary Redding to James Ray

Redding )  I Mary Redding of the County of McNary and
   To        )  State of Tennessee do by these presents nominate constitute
Ray         )  and appoint my trusty friend James Ray of the County
and State aforesaid my true and lawful attorney in
fact for me and in my name to demand and receive
from John Redding Administrator of the Estate
of my father John Redding decd late of Orange
County and State of North Carolina my distribution
share of said Estate whether the same be in money or
other property of whatever kind or description or
whatever balance may be due me of said estate and
all necessary receipt Bonds and acquittances in
my name to execute so as to attain the same
And generally to do all thing or things act or acts which
may be necessary or expedient in and about the premises
so as to obtain my said distribution share of the
said Estate Hereby ratifying and confirming all
my said Attorney may lawfully do in and about
the premises in as full and ample a manner as if I
were present and doing the same my self In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand affixed my seal
this the 3d day of August AD 1849

Sanders Clerk of McNary County – Court – Mary Redding
the within named Constituant with whom I am personally
acquanted and acknowledged that she executed the within
Power of Attorney to James Ray for the use and purposes
therein contained in Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set
my hand and affixed the seal of said Court at office in
Purdy this the 3d day of August AD 1849

McNary County     )  I Harvey Marriss Justice of McNary
County Court do hereby certify that A A Sanders
whose name is subscribed to the above Certificate of
acknowledgement is and was at the time of subscribing
the same acting Clerk of McNary County Court duly
Elected and qualified according to Law that his certificate
is in due form of law that his signature is genuine
and that full [blank] and Credit are due all his official
acts as such Witness my hand at office this the 3d day of

The foregoing Power of Attorney was produced in Open Court &
the certificate therein appearing in to be in due form of law it is
ordered that the same be Registered together with said
