Turrentine sheriff of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina on the one part and John Redding of the County of Orange and State aforesaid on the other part – Witnesseth that whereas by virtue of a writ of Ven Excponis issued from the County Court for the County aforesaid against John Redman for the sum of Twenty Eight Dollars thirty seven cents with Interest from 8th April 1844 which said sum was recovered by John Redding with cost as on record may appear and whereas the said Writ of Venditioni Escponis was directed and delivered to the said James C. Turrentine Sheriff at aforesaid commanding him to expose to sale to the highest bidder for ready money John Redmons Interest in Peggy Redmans tract of land containing 110 acres more or less lying in Orange County on Eno and adjoining the lands of William Whitaker Moses Guess heirs & others and the said James C. Turrentine Sheriff as aforesaid after due advertisement according to law did put up the said land at Public sale to the highest bidder at the Court House door of the County of Orange on the 28th day of Feby AD 1848 at which time and place the aforesaid John Redding became the last and highest bidder at the sum of Ten Dollars for the said land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said James C. Turrentine Sheriff of Orange County for and in consideration of the Sum of Ten Dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Redding before the sealing and signing of these presents the Receipt Whereof is hereby acknowledged hath hereby bargained and sold unto the said John Redding his heirs and assigns, the aforesaid tract of land to have and to hold With all its appurtenances to the said John Redding and that the said James C. Turentine sheriff will warrant and defend the same to the said John Redding his heirs and assigns forever so far as his office of Sheriff will admit and no farther In Witness whereof the said James C. Turentine sheriff of Orange County hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written signed sealed and delivered ) James C.
