Pitt of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnessed that the said Archibald for and in consideration of the sum of Four hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said Edmund R. the receipt whereof the said Archibald doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these present doth grant bargain sell, alien, release and confirm unto the said Edmund R. Pitt his heirs and assigns forever all of that lot or parcel of ground on which the said Archibald now lives situate lying and being in the Village at Chapel Hill containing between ? acres and then quartered be the same more or less. It being the Eastern part and residue of the lot claimed by Taylor and known in the plan of said village by number (14) fourteen ? by said Taylor on the west and on the East by a two acre lot claimed by Campbell. To have and to hold to the said Edmund R. Pitt his heirs and assigns for ? the aforesaid lot or parcel of land together with all and Singular a__tenances and __?__ belonging or in any wise a__?taining and the said Archibald Reeves for himself for himself his heirs and doth covenant and agree to and with the said Edmund R. Pitt his heirs and assigns that he will warrant and forever defend the above __?__ premises to the said Edmund R. Pitt his heirs and against the claim or claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the day as above written I herunto set my hand and seal Archibald W. Reeves Test: Geo W. Jeffreys and Bedford Brown State of North Carolina: Be it remembered that on the 17th day of March AD 1820 befre me Archibald D. Murphy Esquire, One of the ? of the Superior Courts of Law and of Courts of Equity in and for the State aforesaid ? came and appeared George W.
