James Roberts to Thomas Horney Sr

This Indenture made and indented this the 8th day of September AD one thousand
eight hundred and twenty Eight between James Roberts of the County of Orange 
and State of North Carolina of the one part and Thomas Horney Senior of the 
County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said James 
Roberts for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in
hand paid by the said Thomas Horner Senior at and before the sealing and 
delivery of these presents, the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have 
this day bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain & sell unto 
the said Thomas Horner Sen his heirs etc one tract or parcel of Land situate 
lying and being in the County aforesaid on the Waters of Flat River (to wit)
Beginning at a Dog Wood & pointers, on Hornet Branch, running thence South 
Eleven and a half degrees west forty chains and 4 links to a Post Oak, William 
Horners Corner Formerly Thomas Rhews thence west a Crooked [?] to a Sassafras 
seventeen chains & twenty seven links, thence North with William Harris’s line, 
to three Spanish Oak Saplins fourteen chains & fifty six links, to the Middle 
of Hornet Branch, thence down the Meanders of said Hornet branch, to the first
station, containing by estimation sixty nine acres be the same more or less 
with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or any wise
appertaining to the only proper use & behoof of the said Thomas Horney senior 
his heirs etc and the same James Roberts for himself for himself his heirs 
etc doth by these presents warrant and forever defend the right and title of
the afoursaid, land and premises, to the said Thomas Horner Senr. his heirs etc
against him the said James Roberts, his heirs etc and against the lawful claim 
or claims, of all other persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said 
James Roberts hath hereunto set his hand and seal, the day and date first

                   the within Deed of Conveyance from James Roberts to Thomas
