ARCHIVES C.073.40005) JAMES RONEY TO ALEXANDER BENSON (Note that this land is currently in Alamance County, NC) This indenture made this 20th day of March one eight hundred and one between James Roney of the one part and Alexander Benson of the other part, both of the County of Orange and the state of North Carolina witness that the said Roney for and in consideration for the sum of seven hundred pounds to him in hand paid by the said Benson receipt where of is hereby acknowledged hath given, granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said Benson a certain peace or parcel or track of land and premises lying, being and situated in the county afore said on the Wales of Quaker, (Quaker Creek), beginning at a black oak tree on the east side of a road running East eleven chains and fifty links to a black oak tree then North thirty three chains crossing said road in all forty chains to a black jack tree then South fifty degrees West twelve chains and thirty links to a post oak tree then West forty-one chains to a hickory tree sprout at near the flat rock forde, then north four chains and twenty-five links to a blackoak tree then West twenty-three chains to a postoak tree then South 21 chains and 25 links to a blackoak tree then West eleven chains and 50 links to a hickory tree then South fourteen chains 50 links to a blackoak tree then West fifteen chains 5 links to a hickory tree then south 17 chains 50 links to a blackoak tree then East fourteen chains to a blackoak tree then South 18 degrees East fourteen chains to a postoak tree then South 40 degrees East fifty four chains 50 links to a stake in said road, then the meanders of said road to the first station containing six hundred and twenty eight acres and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents, profits, heriditements? and commodities whatsoever thereto belonging or in any wais? appertaining also all the estate right title property, claim or demands whatsoever all will in Equity as in Law of him the said Roney of in and the above mentioned land and premises and ever part and parcel there of to the only proper use and behoof? of him the said Benson his heirs and assigns forever TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said land and premises and the said Roney for himself and his heirs doth covenant and grant to and with the said Benson the said deal tract or parcel of land and premises hereby bargained and sold against him the said Roney his heirs executors administrators and assigns and all persons or manner of persons whatsoever claiming or lawfully to claim will warrant and by these presents forever defend.
